Here's a Starbucks' idea.....

The Starbuck’s Dragster SPECIAL!!

This is a new dragster - using, though, the same Coke Can Dragster techniques to build ....
Try it. It's fun.

The Starbucks dragster

  1. Make a hole through the bottom of two Starbuck’s cups.
  2. Line up the holes and tape the bottom of the cups together.
  3. Poke a hole in the middle of each lid.
  4. Link several rubber bands together to make a chain that is close to the length of the cups.
  5. Run your rubber band chain through the middle of the cups.
  6. Push one end of the rubber band chain through the hole in one lid. Attach a paper clip to hold the rubber band in place and push the lid onto the cup.
  7.  Push the opposite end of your rubber band chain through the hole in the other lid. Now, thread the rubber band through the middle of a small washer and bead. Put the straw through the rubber band, just past the bead.
  8. Wind your dragster by turning the straw around the bead. Set it down and watch it go!

How does it work?
When wind it up you create and store potential energy. When you put the Starbuck’s Dragster down on the floor, the rubber band unwinds and converts the potential energy into kinetic energy - and the Dragster moves! FAST!
