The Pinery - Our Home

We moved from our home in Denver......

To the open space in Parker, Douglas County

The Pinery
We moved here from Denver, two years ago.
August 2011, captivated by the wide open space.......
The Pinery is south of Parker, surrounded by wide open prairie land,
occupied by deer, foxes, coyotes, rabbits, birds, spiders and snakes!
GREAT!!

Open space at the back of our home - no fence, just our lawn then cacti and grass.....

I immediately began to think about creating some areas where I could transplant cacti and other indiginous plants........and a few trees.

This is where I started, where the deer come for their morning drink

Looking east.......made small growing areas under the dead aspens, trees much loved as perching spots for the scores of birds that come each and every day

I brought the bird bath from our home in Denver, and it was immediately used by the deer.
Happy Hour is from midnight to midnight.

A favorite perch for the hawks and the owls....

and the spiders.....

Afternoon nap on the back lawn

Red Winged blackbirds - one species of the documented 65 that fly in and around The Pinery.

It's been a really long and really hard day......

My study. filled with bookcases, a desk, (and my junk!) overlooks the front garden

So I can see breakfast time.......

Our beautiful cottonwood tree which gives me a constant supply of stars

Winter view from the back deck

The autumn ......cottonwood trees sure shed a lot of leaves...all of which go into the compost bins

A flicker at breakfast time

A mile or two from our front door......we go looking for..........

Petrified wood!
